First Birthday Luau Party

First Birthday Luau Themed Party for our special girl!

We decided to do a Hawaiian/Luau/Tiki themed birthday party since Hawaii is one of our favorite places. We wanted to treat this birthday as a party for us too since we survived the year😅

I originally planned on hiring a party planner, I never had a baby shower due to the pandemic so I really wanted to make this a huge celebration. When it came time to planning though, I was having so much fun I never even hired the planner and did most everything myself.

There are so many fun and affordable ways to throw a Hawaiian themed party and I found so many cute and fun ideas on Pinterest.

Aloha Welcome Sign

Using some pre-cut wood from Home Depot and left over paint and stain I already had, I was able to make this fun welcome sign to hang some leis on.

I used paint markers to free hand the writing and drawings.

Centerpieces

For the centerpieces I used these blue glass jars I found in the Easter section of Hobby Lobby. The flowers were from the Target “dollar” section, and Michael’s.

The big Hawaiian flowers I found last minute at the Family Dollar. I was eating at a Chipotle and decided I would walk next door and see what the Family Dollar was all about. Turns out I found the best Hawaiian flowers there!…and a dog pool much cheaper than what I had just bought one for 😒

Balloons

I had hired someone to do the balloons but I still had a balloon kit lying around I had purchased from Etsy months earlier. The night before the party I decided to try it out, if it didn’t work out, no big deal, if it did work out, then great! More balloons for the party! It actually ended up being quite fun and they worked perfectly over the dessert table.

Chocolate Pineapples

Pineapple party favors! Aren’t they cute? These mini DIY pineapples are super easy to make. All you need are Ferrero Rocher candies, a fake green grass square from Michaels, and a hot glue gun.

Just remove the plastic grass pieces and glue to the top of each candy. That’s it!
