Hot Dog and Burger Cookies

These fun hot dog and burger cookies are perfect for any Summer gathering!

I decided to make these hot dog and burger cookies for the Fourth of July. They are super light, not overly sweet, vegan, and gluten-free!

Everything you will need To make hot dog and burger cookies:

To Make The Dough You Will Need..

In a large bowl, combine flour and baking soda.

In a mixer, mix the vegan butter, maple Syrup, sugar, vanilla, and salt.

Pour the flour mixture in the mixer with the other ingredients and combine.

Divide the dough in two halves . Add 2 drops red, 2 drops yellow, and 1 drop of brown food coloring to one half of the dough and incorporate. This will be what you use for the “hot dogs” and “burgers”. The other half of the dough will stay its natural color for the hot dog buns.

Roll a small ball of the natural colored dough in your hands, then flatten with your palm on a flat surface covered with parchment paper.

Using your finger, press onto the tops of the flattened dough for where your hot dog will be placed.

Roll out a small hot dog with the colored dough and use a knife to slice a design into each side of the hot dog. Place your finished hot dog on top of the bun and gently press.

Place all finished hot dogs in the fridge and chill before baking.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Once dough has chilled, bake in the oven for about 15 min or until they look about done.

Allow to cool before decorating.

How To Make “Mustard & Ketchup”

Mix 1 cup of sifted powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of plant-based milk and 1/4 tsp vanilla extract. Divide into two bowls and add red food coloring to one, and yellow to the other and mix until color is even. Add each colored icing into its own squeeze bottle for decorating.

How To Make The “Relish”

Add shredded coconut, green and yellow food coloring and glitter flakes (optional) to a baggy or bowl and mix. Sprinkle on top of already iced hot dog cookies. Adding the ketchup and mustard prior allows the coconut to stick to the frosting.
